Unprecedented bridge building game from the developer of Pony Island
Are you a fan of board games? Maybe you are a fan of horror games. Or maybe you’re a fanatic of deckbuilders like Dominion? If you’ve played Pony Island, you’ll know that its developer Daniel Mullins is always up for something that doesn’t fit tradition. Daniel Mullins Games recently released his latest deckbuilding horror game Encryption on Steam. Unlike most other deck building board games, Encryption is a board game that can only be played on an electronic device, lest its basic experience be completely ruined.
In Encryption, the game starts when you slowly open your eyes and see a dark figure sitting across the table. You can only see the character’s two eyes hovering in the dark. The figurine then forces you to play cards with them. They give you a starter pack. The pack includes squirrels and predators. Squirrels are the base cards that you can sacrifice to get Bloods. Bloods are points you need to play a Predator card on the board, which deals damage to the Dark Figure cards. While it might seem like a typical deckbuilder at first, the dark character would introduce new rules to the game every now and then. ‘have almost no control. Also, if you lose twice against the dark figure, it will literally drag you into a room and “kill” you. The player can progress in the story by winning as many rounds as possible. After each round, the dark figure allows you to move your figure on a map, which can lead to unexpected events or a new game of card games. You have to take every chance to get rare cards or upgrade your cards just to survive. During the interval of two card games, you are allowed to literally get up from the game table and walk around the dark room. Maybe you will find something that could help you ……
Encryption is a one-of-a-kind game that fans of board games and horror games should definitely check out. Prepare for the unexpected, because that is the goal of this game!
