The farm-loving Hawkins family have listed an elegant multi-million dollar investment block in one of Melbourne’s most exclusive areas.

Two-time Geelong Premier Tom Hawkins and his influential wife Emma have put their South Yarra investment block on the market.

The power couple bought the three-bedroom property for $1.64million in 2013 before marrying in 2016, and now have hopes of $2.2-2.4million for the smartly renovated Victorian.

Jellis Craig Stonnington’s agent Carla Fetter believed the couple bought the bright house for its location, to add “property in an upscale Melbourne suburb” to their investment portfolio.

Ms Hawkins, co-founder of baby and children’s clothing brand Homegrown Kids, told Property Confidential in 2020 the stamp to 22 Macfarlan Street was his first foot on the property ladder, and they had enjoyed all the “key learnings and memories” of their real estate journey.

The chic, white 1880 home had recently been renovated when the couple acquired it. Photos in the listing show a minimalist layout that complements historic charm elements like ornate fireplaces, dark floors, and a quaint brick-paved backyard.

A spacious open kitchen offers plenty of natural light through the atrium-style glass ceiling, which Ms Fetter said won many buyers ahead of a March 5 auction.

Those interested also loved the high ceilings, the “prettiness” of the facade, and the proximity to Toorak Rd, South Yarra Botanical Gardens, and local food centers.

A two-car garage is another rare asset for the price in the area.

The Hawkins first met in high school and now live on their 62ha farm in Barrabool, near Geelong – bought in 2016 – with their two young daughters, Arabella and Primrose.

They are expecting their third child in July.

When All-Australian striker and 2020 medalist Coleman is not on the field, he enjoys tending to the farm where he manages a herd of Angus cows.

The family also owns chickens, guinea fowl and a beloved family pug, Oscar John.

About 20 groups attended an open tour last Saturday, including a mix of singles, couples, families and downsizers.
