College football teams on upset alert in week 9
Upset Alert had a solid Week 8 last week, hitting two of five upset picks – including Wild Card play on a 10.5-point favorite – and covering a third game. Covering the spread in 60% of games is a percentage that almost any player would take.
Oregon over UCLA and Georgia State, a 10.5-point dog, over Texas State were both hits, while Washington State covered four runs against BYU, dropping two. In both duds, South Florida handled Temple easily and Pittsburgh took care of Clemson.
This leads to Week 9 – a solid week with no shortage of choices in non-Wild Card games – and the weekly warning: these are not absolute predictions. Rather, they are games that stand out in that they contain the ingredients for a potential upheaval, if the right conditions arise. We will always choose five games: generally four games with lower point spreads and always at least one “Wild Card” game where a team is favored by 10 points or more.
Here’s a look at this week’s Upset Alert picks.
